At Plateau Animal Hospital we believe in preventative care for your pet. This includes annual wellness visits, dental care, proper life stage nutrition, and vaccinations.
Puppy Vaccination Protocol
• Rabies vaccine is recommended at 3 months of age or older and should be followed with a booster in 1 year then re-vaccinated every 3 yrs to maintain rabies titers.
• Distemper/parvovirus/hepatitis/parainfluenza (DHPP) is a series vaccine given at 6,9,12 and 16 weeks. This should be re-vaccinated annually to maintain titers.
• Leptosporsis vaccine is recommended for pets that are likely to drink out of standing water, rivers, ponds or lakes. The initial vaccines are given at 12 and 16 weeks. Re-vaccination is recommended annually.
• Bordetella vaccine is recommended for pets that go to a groomer routinely, boarding facility, dog parks or doggie play dates. The initial vaccine can be given at 8 weeks and re-vaccinated annually to maintain titers.
Adult Canine Wellness
• Annual physical exams are critical for ensuring your pet is healthy and you are not missing any medical conditions.
• Annual Heartworm testing is preferred and heart worm preventative is recommended every 30 days for the life of your pet.
• Annual blood-work is recommended after the age of 5-7 years to ensure your pet is healthy inside as well as outward.
• Annual dentals should be performed on your pet after the age 4-5 years depending on your pets dental health which should be evaluated annually at your pet’s physical exam.
Kitten Vaccination Protocol
• Rabies vaccine is recommended at 3 months of age or older and should be followed with a booster vaccine in 1 year then re-vaccinated every 3 years to maintain titers.
• Feline calcivirus/rhinotracheitis/panlukopenia (FVRCP) is a series vaccine given at 9, 12 and 16 weeks. This should be re-vaccinated annually to maintain titers.
• Feline leukemia vaccine is initially given at 9 and 12 weeks. Re-vaccination is recommended annually.
• New kittens/cats to the household should be tested for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus immediately.
Adult Feline Wellness
• Annual physical exams are critical for ensuring your pet is healthy and you are not missing any medical conditions.
• Annual blood-work is recommended after the age of 5-7 years to ensure your pet is healthy inside as well as outward.
• Annual dentals should be performed on your pet after the age 4-5 years depending on your pets dental health which should be evaluated annually at your pet’s physical exam.
